I Shall not!

“But I don’t want to” my inner child screams,
I don’t care about your grown up dreams.”
“Child, we are grown now, and tantrums are not charming,”
“Please stop this behavior that is exceptionally alarming.”


I shall not!  I will not! I want to sleep in!
“Sleeping in will not ever make you thin!”
I’d rather watch TV or Facebook my friends,”
“I beg you to look through a big girl lens.”
A similar discourse, I’m sure you have had,
Within yourself at odds, you find the good and the bad.
On the one hand you know what needs to be done,
On the other you really just want to have fun.
The desire for reward without paying the expense,
Is embedded deeper in people than true common sense.
Although it’s public knowledge to receive gain, there is pain
We’d all like to see results without any strain.
Remember today, you always have a choice
Will you listen to the responsible or lazy girl’s voice?
Sleep in, think it’s too hard or pretend you don’t have time,
Or just squeeze in 15 minutes of fitness to see your mood climb!
