Personally, I believe one of the best ways to learn something is to passionately pursue teaching it to yourself. Obviously to do that, you need to find experts to learn from, and places with great information.
Although teaching about essential oils is something I’m passionate about doing, I am restricted in what I can say here on my website in order to protect you from misinformation…basically… the government wants to protect you from people who would dupe you into buying something that didn’t work. And that is not a bad thing!
In light of that, I wanted to provide you with some links and learning tools so that you can do some exploring on your own! Here are my top favorite places to learn about essential oils…
Every woman has some encounter with hormones in her life. It’s just a natural, normal part of life! Every woman may also need some extra support in this area from time to time. Essential oils are the perfect wellness supporter!
Did you know every drop of essential oil contains 40 quintillion molecules…that’s 40,000,000,000,000,000,000! You have 100 trillion cells in your body; therefore, on drop of essential oil is enough to cover every cell in your body with 40,000 molecules. Less is more.
So, let’s rediscover natural harmony with unique plant extract formulations and essential oils. This is a short list of my favorites to get you started.
Progessence Plus is a pure serum that is designed specifically for women. Along with wild yam and vitamin E, Progessence Plus is formulated with Frankincense, Bergamot, and Peppermint essential oils. The pleasant smell and portable bottle makes application convenient and enjoyable, especially in public. The product’s clear bottle showcases the purity of this unique formulation.

Normally I will only use Young Living oils on my family, but in a pinch, when Young Living doesn’t have something I need, I will also use one other brand of essential oils –Original Swiss Aromatics. Young Living does not carry Vitex oil, so I use OSA Vitex Oil. Vitex oil balances estrogen and progesterone. Just one to two drops per day may support hormonal balance in healthy women. These two brands of oils are the ONLY brands I use, or recommend.
Supplementation is also critical for totally hormonal wellness. With out busy lifestyles and lack of nutrient rich food, supplementation is very supportive to health!
Thyromin™ is a special blend of porcine glandular extracts, herbs, amino acids, minerals, and therapeutic-grade essential oils in a perfectly balanced formula that maximizes nutritional support for healthy thyroid and adrenal function. The thyroid gland regulates body metabolism, energy, and body temperature.

The complete B-vitamin profile in Super B not only assists in maintaining healthy energy levels, but it also supports the nervous system, aids in maintaining normal cardiovascular function, and helps with internal enzyme reactions. With the new addition of B5, Super B now also assists with mood support.
Supporting your body intentionally with nutrients and God given herbs and essential oils is a must for good hormonal wellness. Stop the crazy, support your body with clean, non toxic products.
This is it. My true confessions about Young Living, their oils, their company, and the whole idea of Network Marketing.
Confession #1 -I Have Wondered if Essential Oils are Legitimate
For real? Sniffing something makes my body more healthy? (Arches eyebrow) For real?
Even after I started using Young Living essential oils, I wondered if they REALLY were the best, or if they really were just hype. I got results…but…I needed to know. Do we really make great oils? Do we really make a pure product? Is there something better than what we offer out there?
I don’t want to waste my time or my money, and I especially do not want to waste my integrity selling something that isn’t the best.
After spending time at our farms, seeing the plants, seeing the distillation process, and hearing Gary Young’s heart, I was MORE THAN FULLY convinced that this is a honorable company selling a superior essential oil.
And no, he didn’t put a spell on me. 😉
Confession #2 -I Have Thought that Network Marketing Was “Criminal”
At least, that’s the best word I can think of to describe what I thought about network marketing for most of my life. Where do we get that idea anyway? If you think about it for 30 seconds, all marketing is networking. All products, every single thing you buy, is marketed and sold by someone, somehow, somewhere. Furthermore, marketing is a Biblical concept….I mean….what’s the other option? Stealing? Communism?
I think people should be able to create GREAT products with ideas that God gave them. And I think other people should help them sell these great products. That’s all Network Marketing is…selling great products.
Confession #3 -I Have Worried About Whether Or Not I Can Help You
Will my essential oils make a difference for you like they have for me? Can I teach you how to build the business you want? A successful business like mine?
I worry about these things.
Recently God has been convicting me about my worry in this area. He’s saying, “as long as you’re doubled minded about this, you’re not gonna help anyone with your oils, or help anyone really build a great business.”
How true! So with single minded focus, I want to confess; ESSENTIAL OILS WORK! They are awesome!!!!!!! I also confess that I have the skills and the desire to help others build a great business with this wonderful product! In fact, I hope that you will get to come visit the farms in in Idaho, and if you do, we can hang out there together in person. But for now, I would be honored to help you get started with your first step. Whether you want to try using essential oils simply for the the health benefits with a wholesale account, or if you want to step out and create a whole entire culture of vibrant life in a website, I would love to be part of it!

3 Ways Essential Oils Are Adulterated and How You Can Tell
by Kayla Howard
Essential oils are not cheap to make. In fact, pure essential oils are expensive, labor intensive, and subject to all kinds of hard work. They are pricey, as any pure product, carefully grown and extracted should be. In order to make essential oils less costly, some companies will “extend” essential oils. That means, they will stretch them by diluting them in some way.
Essential oils blends are often blended with a fatty oil base, and if it is sold as such, that is NOT adulteration. Some oils however are sold a “pure” essential oil, when they actually have been extended in some way, and then sold cheaper. Here are some basic ways that essential oils may be “extended” and how you can identify if it is pure, if it is what the label says it is, or if it is contaminated.
Extended with Fatty Oil
As stated before, essential oil blends are often blended with fatty oils such as almond oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil. In the case of a essential oils being clearly marked as a blend, and the fatty oil being listed in the ingredients, this is NOT an adulteration! This is a great way to use essential oils.
If however, your oil is labeled and sold as 100% pure essential oil, and DOES NOT include the fatty oil in the ingredients, you have an impostor! You can tell if an oil has been extended with fatty oil by the greasy feel on your skin. A pure essential oil will not leave a greasy feel on your skin after a few moments. You may also tell if an EO has been extended with a rancid fatty oil simply by the smell. Most of us are familiar with the smell of rancid fatty oils. YUCK!
Another test is to place your essential oils on paper. Most pure EO will not leave an oily mark when dried, however, some pure essential oils will leave a mark, especially expressed oils (citrus) or absolutes.
Extended with Alcohol
Another common way to extend an essential oil, and therein making it cheaper, is by adding alcohol to the EO. Ethyl Alcohol is a common substance added to EO to extend them. It’s very hard to detect this by smell, but it is possible. You’ll need to become familiar with the scent of ethyl alcohol in order to identify this adulteration, (which is in my opinion, a true adulteration).
Extended with Another Similar Oil or Surfactants & Emulsifiers
Finally, EO may be extended by adding a similar smelling EO which is cheaper to produce to a more expensive oil. For example, true lavender may be extended with lavandin, or Rose EO could be extended with geranium, (although most often, Rose oil is simply purely synthetic). This is the hardest form of adulteration to detect, and can only be really guarded against by knowing your supplier.
Surfactants & Emulsifiers may be added to EO to extend them as well. A simple way to test your essential oil for this adulteration is by placing a drop in water. Pure essential oils will float on the top. Emulsified mixtures will dissolve in water and produce milk or opaque solutions.
There you have it–lots of tools to test you essential oils! Obviously, essential oils can be contaminated or adulterated in other ways, these are simply the most common and easy to identify!
Myth #1 They are too expensive for most people to use. This is by far the most popular myth, or misconception that I hear. While it’s true that pure, therapeutic grade essential oils are not cheap, they are not too expensive for daily use. Allow me to briefly show you why.
One 15ml bottle of essential oil contains about 250 drops of essential oil. And yes, we do speak in drops when it comes to essential oils. How many other natural tools come in bottles of 250? Not many.
Pure, therapeutic grade essential oils range in price from $10-$90+ per 15ml bottle, (on average with a handful of very expensive others oils costing over $200). When I do the math, there are a number of supplements that I’ve happily used in my life which would cost more than that broken down and compared drop for drop.
Which brings up the another point—do essential oils work as well as other natural tools?
Myth #2 They are just nice smells for massage or baths. This is also a common misconception, but I blame it on the fact that in the United States, we are largely uneducated and inexperienced in using essential oils.
European countries have been using them therapeutically for years, but here in the states, it is relatively new. Thankfully we now have organizations like Airase who are doing scientific research and publishing the results of the studies. As we learn more and more about essential oils, the facts are undeniable–they are powerful naturally occurring plant compounds which bring about positive effects in the body. Ancient peoples have known this for thousands of years.
Can they be used boldly? That all depends. It depends on the quality of your oil, your knowledge and skill level and which oil you want to use. Essential oils are primarily “applied” through the inhalation method simple because they actually do penetrate the body and work therapeutically that way due to their small molecular size. You don’t HAVE to use them internally–and some oils should not be taken internally. The French method of application does support using essential oils internally when you have the knowledge and skill to do so.
Myth #3 All essential oils are equal. Not true! So not true! Essential oils may be labeled “pure” as long as they contain SOME of the essential oil that it claims to be. That literally means you could purchase a “pure essential oil” that contains 90% vegetable oil and 10% essential oil.
The only way to know for sure that what you’re getting is a pure essential oil–meaning—100% essential oil, which has been sourced from organic plants, distilled at proper temperatures, and packaged correctly—is by having a relationship with the supplier of the oil. Not exactly an easy task, but not impossible either.
I have the privilege of living near two farms and distilleries, which has made it easy for me to know my oil source. Most people will never get to see where the plants are grown, or watch the distillation process. But that doesn’t mean you can’t build a relationship with a company and get to know the people and practices they employ.
Truly, essential oils have changed my life. We feel more confident in using them in our home. Hospitals around the country are even beginning to use essential oils. The US is discovering the powerful uses of essential oils! Will you be among them?
