7 Day Sugar Fast Menu Plan

Time for a sugar fast?

Nope.  It’s not, “WooHOO!  We’re eating jelly beans and chocolate bars for 7 days!”  No, this means, zero sugar for 7 days — a sugar fast.

Not only no sugar, but no wheat.  There comes a time, when bad attitudes run rampant, that cutting out wheat and sugar becomes a necessity to survival.  My aim is to keep this low key… basically, I’m hoping to make it delicious and easy enough that my family doesn’t really notice.

I think we all suspect that sugar is bad for our bodies.  You are especially aware of this if you deal with hypoglycemia or diabetes.  Here is just a partial list of what sugar can do to our body.

  • Sugar may increase fat storing.
  • Sugar may disrupt normal brain function.
  • Sugar may decrease your overall health and make you age faster.
  • Sugar may inhibit the immune system.

Have you ever noticed how much sugar acts like a drug in your body and especially in your children’s body?  I know mine turn into little crazed monsters!  In the past, I noticed that after about 3 days, the cravings die off and everyone is more level headed and happy.  If you’ve never tried it, I challenge you to do it!

During this 7 day fast, I don’t intend to cut out fruit sugars or honey.  I’ve plan to have plenty of fruit on hand for snacking, to make it fun, and prevent everyone from feeling deprived.  I’ve also decided to cut out wheat because I personally want to lose a few pounds.  For me, cutting out wheat usually takes weight off quickly.  If you think about it though, most of the ways that we use wheat, (flour) is in cakes, cookies and other baked goods.

So, I promised to share a menu plan and I thought the easiest way to do that for you would be to link all the recipes online.  Enjoy!

  3. I noticed you can have honey and maple syrup (real maple syrup I’m sure:)….just checking! Usually when I do a sugar fast I have nothing sweet other than a little honey in my tea! Alot of these recipes look awesome and very creative! Thanks:)

    1. I personally do use these sweeteners for this particular fast. Basically, it’s just cane sugar and most white flour gone!

  4. I am very interested in doing this fast! It seems really simple and sustainable. I was wondering if you had a grocery list for your menu?

    1. I’m sorry but I don’t have a grocery list at this time! I personally don’t use full blown lists because I keep so much food on hand in bulk so I’ve never thought to make a list. Good idea for next time I do this!
